Gabriel Patterson Became My Neighborhood Friend

I know times are tough; in today’s competitive scenario whether it may be for a student or professional is not that easy. Everyone has to strive equally hard to make their mark. Everybody is really busy and one can agree in today’s scenario there is no spare time left for anyone to spare. Keeping all these points in perspective, my analogy is a little bit different, I strongly believe in the statement “tough times never last but tough people do”, yes every human being has enormous potential to tackle any kind of problem and face any tough situation with ease. The only thing to understand is to be aware of your potential. Anyhow, my point of writing this blog is that people are really busy in today’s times but what about the basic fundamentals of humanity.

I stay in Winnipeg and my neighborhood sucks, nobody cares for no one, everybody are in their own world not caring for anybody else apart from their family. I was fortunate that for some days Gabriel Patterson became my neighborhood friend, he was in Winnipeg for a few days. This guy Gabriel Patterson who was in Winnipeg was humble and compassionate person, and every evening I used to go for a walk, he used to give a smile, and at sometimes used to talk. His attitude was the same with all the other neighbors but nobody cared. One day I asked Gabriel you being so good, but nobody gives a damn, why don’t you change yourself and become mean, and just be in your zone. Gabriel replied “Money is very important and one has to work hard to earn it I do agree, but also important are relationships. At least be humble, sympathize with your relatives, friend’s family members, make them happy at times. I know you may not be able to help them financially but the above said traits don’t cost a dime. My most important point ‘Give but never expect’. Give a smile, be humble, sympathize with others, make others happy but never expect that they will smile back at you or they will be humble enough and make you happy. If you think like this you will be doomed”. Till date Gabriel’s wisdom has a huge impact on my personality, and my whole outlook towards life has transformed entirely.
